Alvin Liang

Martial Arts Instructor

A SoCal native and lifelong martial artist, Alvin got his start at the age of 12 training in Tang Su Do, also known as Korean Karate, and Hapkido. A jack of all trades, black belt of none, Alvin moved on from Tang Su Do at his red belt and began exploring other styles, including Wushu Tao Lu, Sanda (Chinese kickboxing), Ninjitsu, Judo, Boxing, Wing Chun, and Wrestling.

His most recent passions have been Muay Thai and Jiujitsu, which he trains in at Sparta Academy. An active competitor in both styles, Alvin won his first two IKF Muay Thai matches in the same day, the first by TKO in 35 seconds.

Prior to coming to Sparta, Alvin was the lead instructor of the Trojan Stunt Team at USC for 5 years, where he explored his passion for teaching martial arts, stunt acting, and fight choreography. Alvin’s diverse background where it comes to both learning and teaching martial arts makes him a specialist in working with people from varied backgrounds and identifying their strengths and weaknesses to create custom training plans.
